Palestine thrash Comoros, book FIFA Arab Cup place

Thursday night saw Palestine come from behind a against Comoros to score five goals unanswered and book a place in the FIFA Arab Cup. This 16 team competition will serve as a preparatory warm up for Qatar who will host the World Cup in the same stadia 12 months after hosting the Arab World’s best sides.

This win capped off a great month for Palestine and their interim manager Makram Dabboub. The post match celebrations showcased the relief of the squad that had been plunged into a tumultuous three year period with the PFA refusing to fire a clearly out of his depth Noureddine Ould Ali. Palestine’s victory also set more than one milestone. The team are the most prolific scorers of the preliminary round. Attacking duo Tamer Seyam and Oday Dabbagh are also the top scorer and top assist creator of the round, respectively.
