Former Croatia U20 international Muhamed Alghoul has signed a short term deal with Icelandic side Keflavik IF.

Alghoul declared for Palestine two years ago ahead of the FIFA Arab Cup but could not participate in the finals in December due to the tournament being held outside of the FIFA Calendar. A skilled midfielder with the ability to operate as a number eight or a number 10, Alghoul could well be the missing link in midfield for Al-Fida’i.

Alghoul’s career has been in an upward trajectory since scoring 12 times in 54 league appearances for NK Dubrava. That spell earned him a move to the Romanian top tier with Academica Clinceni where he was one of the few bright spots in the final six months of a campaign that ended in relegation.

Last year, Muhamed Alghoul was a key cog in a Wadi Degla team that battled hard for a return to the Egyptian flight but ultimately fell short.

The move to Keflavik IF is a short term deal that will see Alghoul play for the side until the end of the season. At the time of writing, There are three games left until the league splits between Championship and Relegation rounds. Keflavik sits bottom of the table six points from safety.

Alghoul told Football Palestine that signing for Keflavik IF was “trying to play in the best possible league as to earn a call up for the national team- as this is my top wish”

Keflavik’s next game is on Sunday, August 20th, against Breidablik.
