In a long anticipated move, Yaser Hamed Mayor has agreed a one year deal with a new club in a new country.
The Basque born Palestine international has agreed to join Northeast United of the Indian Super League on a one year deal. Football Palestine broke news of the transfer early on Monday morning.
Since leaving Spain in 2020, Hamed has played in the top flights of Bahrain, Egypt, Qatar and Kuwait for Al-Busaiteen, Al-Masry, Al-Rayyan, and Al-Qadsia, respectively.
The center back made his Palestine debut in August 2019 against Yemen and has amassed 24 caps while scoring an incredible knack for scoring off of set pieces. His five goals in that time frame have only been bettered by two players- Tamer Seyam and Oday Dabbagh.
Northeast United finished rock bottom of the Indian Super League last season (there is no relegation from the 11 team league) and have made several changes to their squad swapping out all but one of their foreign players and brining in former RS Berkane Manager Juan Pedro Benali.
The Indian Super League season kicks off on September 22nd and runs until March. The short term move should keep one of Palestine’s key players match fit ahead of crucial World Cup qualifiers in November and the 2023 Asian Cup in January.
