Palestine’s penultimate rehearsal before facing Iran next week got off to a good start. Palestine were the better team over the first 45 minutes with Rami Hamadi being called into action once in a one-on-one situation but remaining relatively unbothered for the first 45 minutes.
Palestine threatened the Uzbek goal twice and did a good job controlling the tempo and rhythm of the game.
Makram Daboub rung in the changes for the second half. The sheer number of which renders this game as unofficial. There was no tv broadcast for the encounter as is usually the case for many matches before the start of a big tournament.
Palestine twice hit the woodwork in the second half first through substitute Samer Jondi and then through Alaa Aldeen Hassan.
Amr Kaddoura was sharp in his 45 minutes and capped off the game by saving a penalty kick.
Uzbekistan scored the sole goal of the game in the 79th minute through Bobur Abdikholikov.
Sources told Football Palestine that there were many positive elements to the game and several players- both starters and backups- look sharp going into the Asian Cup.
Palestine plays Saudi Arabia in their final match on Tuesday, January 9th.
