Earlier this week, FC Rapperswill Jona announced that the club had reached a mutual agreement to terminate the contract of Saleh Chihadeh less than a month after the striker originally signed for the club.
Chihadeh who has scored over 100 goals in across the top four tiers of Swiss Football was supposed to be a maarquee signing for a club that had reached to the Challenge League playoffs in 2022-23.
Now, in an unexpected twist, Chihadeh is returning to the club that helped him breakthrough- SC Kriens. The player’s first stint at the club featured a successful promotion to the Challenge League as well as 35 goals and 10 assists in 69 appearances for the club. He eventually moved to FC Thun in the Top Tier on the back of those impressive performances.
Marco Wiget, the team’s sporting director and Chihadeh’s ex-teammate gushed about his latest signing to the team’s media division: “My contact with Saleh never broke off. We had two great years together at SCK and exchanged ideas again this summer. Saleh then decided to join another club. It didn’t fit 100% there, so we sat down again and are now very happy that Saleh has found his way back to the Kleinfeld. As a person, he fits in perfectly with us, with his experience and his qualities he will help SCK and after Manu Fäh it’s also great to have another former SCK top performer with us again.”
SC Kriens have collected four points from their first two games of the season but are still waiting for the first goal from open play having scored the first two goals of the campaign from the penalty spot.
SC Kriens’s next game is in the Swiss Cup against FC Medrisio on Saturday, August 19th.
