As previously reported on our twitter account.
Jamal Mahmoud has called up 21 players to take part in the football tournament of the 2011 Pan-Arab Games. The list includes two players who ply their trade abroad: Goalkeeper Ramzi Saleh (Smouha FC/EGY), who will captain the squad and Syrianska (SWE) midfielder Imad Zatara who could receive his eighth cap after a five year layoff (Zatara did play against Dynamo Moscow in 2010).
Notable absences include Murad Alyan who has declined a call-up due to work commitments. Ahmed Keshkesh and Fahed Attal are also excluded presumably due to a lack of goal scoring form with their clubs.
Palestine are grouped with Jordan, Libya, and Sudan in their group- group winners as well as the best of the three runner-ups advance to the semifinals of the tournament. Ramzi Saleh will break Saeb Jendeya’s cap record (70) if Palestine reach the final and he plays in all five games.
