After a delayed start to the 2020 Swedish season, Ahmed Awad wasted no time in making an impactful debut for his new club, Vasteras SK. The 28 year old opened the scoring against AFC Eskiltuna after 36 minutes receiving the ball on the left wing before shimmying his marker and slotting home [video here].
Awad hit the ground running with Vasteras before the postponement- scoring three times and assisting twice in the Svenska Cupen as Vasteras just narrowly missed out on a quarterfinal berth.
As it stands, Awad is joint top scorer in the competition thanks to his 2019 goal haul with Dalkurd.
Dating back to the tail end of last season, Awad has scored 13 goals and tallied two assists in 13 starts in league and cup competitions.
Despite consistently scoring and dishing out assists in Sweden’s top two tiers Awad has not played for the national team in over two years and has only amassed four subsitute appearances since debuting in March 2016.
