Hilal Al-Quds’s four wins in the 2019 AFC Cup has given a boost to Palestinian football in continental competitions.
The increase in allocation comes despite failing to overtake Oman in the allocation on the final match day. If results played out differently on the final match day Palestine could have earned two direct entries into the 2021 edition.
Instead, as things stand Palestine will have 1.5 spots for the 2021 AFC Cup, meaning the WBPL champions will receive direct entry into the group stages provided Hilal Al-Quds puts up a reasonably good showing in next year’s tournament.
Hilal Al-Quds will face off against an Omani side in the playoff stages in February of next year.
