After going on trial with FC Dallas of the MLS earlier in the week. Omar Jarun has landed himself a new club in the division below- the NASL. Despite impressing in his sole game with the FC Dallas reserves this move represents a positive one for Jarun. In my discussions with supporters of FC Dallas, Jarun would have been buried on the depth chart and wouldn’t have seen much significant playing time.
By signing with FC Tampa Bay, Jarun puts himself in a situation were he is nearly guaranteed to start week in, week out. The concept of promotion and relegation doesn’t exist in the United States (and Canada) but Jarun could still put himself in the shop window for next season. Major League Soccer is due to expand in 2012- with Montreal getting a franchise. Further expansion to 20 or more teams is heavily rumored.
I’m fairly confident that Omar is going to turn some heads in the NASL this season and I throughly believe that he has grown as a player thanks to his experience in the Polish Liga I.
