After three and a half electric seasons at Hilal Al-Quds- Oday Dabbagh is flying the coop. It’s a move that has been a long time coming. Dabbagh burst onto the scene in the 2018 AFC U23 Championship and it seemed it would only be a matter of time until a foreign club came knocking.
The 20 year old attacker got his first senior cap in March 2018 and scored his first senior goal against Kyrgyz Republic in September of that year.
Dabbagh further impressed in his only Asian Cup start against Jordan as one of the players who was a constant menace throughout the 90 minutes.
The move from Hilal Al-Quds required Al-Salmiya to pay out the value of the remaining two years on the player’s contract and the length of the new contract is only for a year.
Dabbagh leaves Palestinian football having notched 40 league goals, 8 goals in the Palestine Cup, and another five in the Yasser Arafat Cup.
The Jerusalemite also holds Palestine’s record for most goals in the AFC Cup. Since turning pro just before his 17th birthday- Dabbagh has scored 73 goals for club and country.
Al-Salmiya finished third in the Kuwaiti top flight last season and will feature in the AFC Cup.
The Kuwaiti side has Jordanian striker Odai Al-Saifi and Syrian legend Fares El-Khatib on its books. The Sky Blues were in advanced negotiations with Nazmi Al-Badawi but that deal fizzled out at the last hurdle.
