Mahmoud Eid has settled on a new club weeks after announcing his intent to void his contract with Indonesian side Persebaya. Eid was one of three Palestinians who plied his trade in Indonesia and became the third and final one to announce his exit following the league’s ongoing suspensions since the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
In a heartfelt post, Eid left the door open to a return to the Persebaya but will join next season in the Qatari second tier with Mesaimeer.
The 27 year old who was recently included in Liga I’s Team of the Year had competing offers from Malaysia, Kuwait, Oman, and the Saudi second tier.
Eid becomes the third Palestinian national team player to play in Qatar following in the footsteps of Imad Zatara, who also played for Mesaimeer, and Jaka Ihbeisheh (Al-Shamal).
Details of the contract have yet to be released. Through nine games this season, Mesaimeer are fifth in the table on 11 points nine points off the top spot and six points away from a promotion playoff spot.
