Another AFC Cup match day, another heartbreaker for the defending WBPL Champion. After throwing away a 1-0 lead to Al-Ahed in their first game, Hilal Al-Quds conceded first to Al-Jeish who did not look back after Mohammed Al-Wakid’s 37th minute goal.
Hilal Al-Quds did have an opportunity to level the score from the penalty spot in the second half. Mohammed Yameen opted to strike the ball straight down the middle only for Ibrahim Alma to make a kick save to preserve Al-Jeish’s lead.
In the other Group A match, defending champions Al-Ahed suffered a shock 1-0 loss at the hands of Manama to keep the group wide open. Hilal Al-Quds remain bottom on zero points with Manama and Al-Jeish joint top on four points.
