Following a successful debut season in the top flight of Israeli football, Jaber has made his second move in as many years.
Jaber’s move to Hapoel Hadera resulted in 27 matches played and a grand total of 2,000 minutes on the field. The left back also managed to chip in two assists for Hadera as the club succeeded in surviving in the top tier for the fourth consecutive season.
The original contract signed by Jaber had an extension clause for an additional year; one the player decided not to sign.
Palestine’s fifth most capped player will instead move to Sakhnin– a club with considerably more experience in the top year and one that survived relegation despite changing managers in mid-season.
Abdallah Jaber’s presence in the Sakhnin team will solve a huge issue they have had at the left back position throughout last season. The contract is for a guaranteed two years with a two year option.
The 2021/22 season will also be the first to feature a Jaber vs. Jaber matchup. Abdallah Jaber’s younger brother, Mahmoud was an integral part of Hapoel Nof HaGalil last season and helped them earn promotion to the top division after a second place finish in the second tier.
Mahmoud, a 21 year old central defensive midfielder, logged 35 matches during the promotion campaign and contributed two goals and three assists.
Unfortunately for the Jaber brothers are unlikely to play for Palestine anytime soon with PFA President Jibril Rajoub stating that Abdallah “will never play for Palestine again“.
The impasse is a result of Abdallah Jaber taking the decision to leave the WBPL after not getting paid for five months. After releasing a weirdly worded statement last year, the PFA and its respective coaching staffs have acted as if Abdallah Jaber has ceased to exist. A strange way to behave towards the most capped player in the current pool.
