Makram Dabboub has called up a squad of 24 players to face Oman (September 6th) and Vietnam (September 11th) later this month.
The Palestine squad announcement came with some surprises as Dabboub had to navigate the absences of several players whose services are currently being used by the U23 team as they attempt to qualify for the U23 Asian Cup in Bahrain (September 6-12).
Most notably there has been a softening of a previous stance taken by the PFA in regards to players playing in the Israeli league. Evidence of this change in position was on display in recent years and this month’s national team squad sees the likes of Amid Mahajna (Hapoel Umm El-Fahm) and Alaa Aldeen Hassan (Abna Sakhnin) get called in for the first time.
Makram Dabboub has also called in Ali Abu Alfa- the former Olympic Team player- who plies his trade in Germany’s fourth tier with Altglienicke as well as Camilo Saldaña the former Palestino LB who plays for Union San Felipe in the Chilean second tier.
In total, there are nine new names in this month’s list that replace eight players who were called up in June. Amr Kaddoura, Musab Al-Battat, Sameh Maraaba, Jonathan Cantillana, and Oday Dabbagh also return.
Egypt based duo Mahmoud Wadi and Mohammed Saleh have been excluded alongside Islam Batran, Reebal Dahamshe, Mohammed Yousefin, Bashar Shobaki, Toufic Ali, and El-Mehdi Issa.
The full squad is as follows:
